83rd Annual Civilian Conservation Corps Reunion At Shenandoah National Park

Shenandoah National Park, along with the Barlow family of Stanley, Virginia, will co-host the 83th Annual Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni Reunion this coming Saturday. The public is invited to meet with families and alumni and hear first-hand about their experiences. Alumni reunion events will take place at the Big Meadows Lodge Massanutten Room (mile 51 Skyline Drive) beginning at 10 a.m. with remarks from park leadership.

Be Part Of Public Lands Day On September 24

You can be a part of the nation's largest, single-day volunteer effort for public lands this coming Saturday. Throughout the country, about 200,000 people will participate in 2,500 National Public Lands Day events. As part of the celebration, national parks will waive entrance fees and host projects and programs that promote environmental stewardship.

Park Service Cancels Contract Offers To Mountaineering Guides At Denali National Park

After granting 10-year mountaineering guide contracts to six concessionaires at Denali National Park and Preserve in April, the National Park Service has decided to void those offers and start the process anew, citing concerns from multiple groups about franchise fees and clarity around provisions in the contract.
