Cascade Corner

"Cascade Corner" in Yellowstone National Park is aptly named, what with its many waterfalls and cascades of the Bechler River. According to park historian Lee Whittlesey in "Yellowstone Place Names," the region was named by explorer W.C. Gregg and park Superintendent Horace Albright in 1921.

Part of the area, in the park's southwestern corner, were even eyed for a reservoir in 1920, but publicity via articles that Gregg wrote for the Saturday Evening Post and Outlook "helped foil the reservoir plan," notes Mr. Whittlesey.
