Olympic Hiker Survives 3 Nights With Broken Leg

As beautiful as our national parks are, they can be dangerous, too. Just ask 19-year-old Dana Crane, who spent three nights alone on an Olympic National Park beach after falling about 25 feet and breaking a leg.
The Maine woman was hiking solo along the Pacific Coast about 10 miles south of La Push when she stopped to admire the view. However, she evidently got too close to the edge of a small outcrop and when the rocks gave way she fell to the beach, breaking a leg and injuring her pelvis, sternum, and lower back.
After spending three nights on the beach, Crane was discovered and air-lifted by the Coast Guard to a Port Angeles hospital. You can read the details here.
