We've flipped the calendar pages to another year, and for some people, that means it's time for some New Year's resolutions.
There's the list of usual suspects such as exercising more, choosing healthier items for our dinner plates, and perhaps shedding a few holiday pounds.
Noble goals all, but how about something that stirs up the travel juices and generates a little bit of excitement in terms of plans—or at least wishes—connected with national parks?
Do your 2013 resolutions include visits to one or more parks you've never experienced in person, or a return to a favorite destination?
How about a hike on a special trail, a float trip on a particular river, or a chance to see and perhaps photograph a specific species of bird or animal?
Finally, might this year's resolutions include doing something for parks? Perhaps you're considering volunteering to help with either a specific project, or on an on-going basis. If time, distance or health are limiting factors for hands-on helping a favorite park, other options include joining and contributing to a park Friends group.
What's on your horizons for 2013?

Yes! I made a resolution to do a hike in national park, national forest, state park, and county park I'd never been to before. I haven't made any final decisions yet, but the park is likely to be Saguaro NP in a few weeks.
One of my goals for 2013 is to hike 150 new miles in the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. My eventual goal is to hike all of the trails in the park.
Our family is hoping to make a two week trip to Olympic and Mt Rainer sometime this coming year.We have not been to that part of the country yet.
