Share

Enjoy a summer evening program at Cape Lookout National Seashore/NPS file

This year's Evening at the Cape programs at Cape Lookout National Seashore in North Carolina will feature a ferry ride at dusk and a chance to take in the view from the Cape Lookout Lighthouse around sunset. The first set of programs will take place on Thursday, June 13, Friday, June 14, and Saturday, June 15.

Bring your camera and experience South Core Banks and the lighthouse as the light keepers did, in the dark of night. Hear stories from the past as the day turns into night at the national seashore.  “This is a great opportunity to witness your favorite beach under the calm of the starry sky,” notes Superintendent Jeff West.

Reservations are required for the ranger-led programs, beginning on Monday, June 3 at 10 a.m. EDT at www.recreation.gov.  Each of the three tour nights will be able to accommodate a maximum of 40 total participants.

The cost of the program is $28 (price includes ferry fee) and is non-refundable (weather dependent). Please be sure to check your party in with the ranger at 7 p.m., as the program begins promptly at 7:15 p.m.  All participants will travel together on a single ferry that departs from Harkers Island shortly after the program begins, and returns to Harkers Island by approximately 10 p.m.

Children joining the climb must be at least 44-inches tall and able to climb the steps on their own. Children 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult (16 or older). Footwear is required as well.
