Arches National Park staff is considering a proposal to allow bicycle use on a new trail/NPS

The National Park Service is thinking of allowing bicycle use on a new trail connecting Arches National Park with Moab, Utah, and is seeking public comment on the proposal.

The plan is to allow bicycle use on the recently opened Arches Visitor Center Connector Trail. The trail connects the Arches visitor center to the Moab Canyon Pathway and was built in accordance with national guidelines for shared use paths.

NPS Regulation 36 CFR § 4.30 requires that any park, before authorizing bicycle use on an existing trail, evaluate that use in an environmental assessment or environmental impact statement. Consistent with this regulation, the park is now evaluating bicycle use on the Visitor Center Connector Trail in an environmental assessment.

The EA will be available for public comment and review through February 11 on the NPS Planning, Environment, and Public Comment  website at this page. Comments unable to be made on the PEPC website can be sent to:
