A Florida man hiking off trail with friends fell to his death in Glacier National Park in Montana on Monday.

The group was hiking on a steep slope several hundred feet above the Two Medicine Campground on Rising Wolf Mountain. The group was able to hike down to the 79-year-old man and from there called 911.

A helicopter from Two Bear Air diverted from a separate incident and transported the unconscious patient to Two Medicine Ranger Station where ALERT was standing by for patient care. The man was declared deceased by ALERT personnel.
