President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama To Light National Christmas Tree

President Barack Obama, and First Lady Michelle Obama will help wrap the National Park Service centennial celebrations when they officially light the National Christmas Tree in President's Park on Thursday during the 2016 National Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony. Olympic Gold Medalist swimmer Simone Manuel is also set to make a special appearance with First Lady Michelle Obama.

New Exhibits For Kids Open As Winter Settles In At Lassen Volcanic National Park

Recent storms have brought wintry conditions to Lassen Volcanic National Park in northern California, closing the park road to through traffic but opening activities for snow enthusiasts. And as of last month, the park has two new interactive exhibits for kids to enjoy after a day of sledding.

UPDATED: Forest Fire Leads To Closure Of Newfound Gap And Other Roads In Great Smoky Mountains National Park

A wildfire burning not far from the roof of Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Monday led to closure of the Newfound Gap Road, Cherokee Orchard Road, and Elkmont Road due to the fire crossing the road and thick smoke creating "almost white-out conditions," while a second fire close to the western edge of the park led to a voluntary evacuation of a Gatlinburg, Tennessee, neighborhood.
