U.S. Fish And Wildlife Service Moves To Delist Grizzly Bears In Yellowstone Region

A decision to lift Endangered Species Act protection from grizzly bears in the greater Yellowstone ecosystem came Thursday, just after a group held up the death of a well-known Yellowstone National Park grizzly as a warning regarding the fate of other grizzlies in the ecosystem if they are delisted.

Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle Hatchlings Heading To Sea At Padre Island National Seashore

The release of baby Kemp's Ridley sea turtles is underway at Padre Island National Seashore in Texas. Seashore staff collect the turtle eggs shortly after they're laid on the beach to ensure that predators don't get them and to incubate them. When they begin to hatch the turtles are returned to the beach, where they quickly head to sea.

Comment Period Extended On Bison Reduction Plan At Grand Canyon National Park

The National Park Service has decided to extend the public comment period on the Initial Bison Herd Reduction Environmental Assessment, which evaluates management actions related to bison on Grand Canyon National Park’s North Rim. The EA will now be available for public review and comment through June 14.
