At Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, Things are Not Always as They Seem

This is an AK-47 (type 2) assault rifle. Don’t bring one of these with you when you visit a national park. Photo via Wikipedia Commons.
A visitor at Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area summoned police when he saw five men armed with assault rifles and pistols apparently getting ready to execute a sixth man, who was handcuffed, kneeling on the ground, and had two AK-47s pointed at his head. A video camera was mounted on a tripod nearby to record the grisly event.
Things are not always as they seem.
Quickly arriving on the scene, local police and a park ranger found a group of young men, aged 18 to 24, filming a movie without a permit.
The pistols were BB/pellet guns. The assault rifles, the camcorder, and presumably the handcuffs, were all real.
The guy who owned the two AK-47s was arrested and the rest were given citations for weapons and permit violations. The whole bunch got a stern lecture and some important additions to their “don’t do it again” list.

It reminds of the great scene from "The Naked Gun":
Mayor: Now Drebin, I don't want any trouble like you had on the South Side like last year, that's my policy.
Frank: Well, when I see five weirdos dressed in togas, stabbing a man in the middle of the park in front of a full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards, that's my policy.
Mayor: That was a Shakespeare In The Park Production of Julius Caesar, you moron! You killed five actors! Good ones, too!
A lecture and a stern "don't do it again" doesn't cut in my book for punishment for carrying a potent AK-47 into a National Recreation Area. There's nothing cute about this weapon, for it's main purpose is to annihilate and kill as many people possible. This weapon should never be in the hands of the general public to use or own...except for the military, police and most governmental security forces. Again, as I quoted before: NO GUNS IN THE PARKS!
Are you kidding?
Misuse of firearms is dangerous.
The purpose of a firearm is not to kill everything in sight.
The AK-47 is not inherently evil.
All weapons were originally in the hands of warriors. When civilization was settled, and nomads became farmers, not everyone needed a weapon.
Now, in modern times, if you, or anyone else for that matter, decides who gets to and who doesn't get to carry a weapon, firearm or edged weapon alike, you are stricly a fascist.
"The purpose of a firearm is not to kill everything in sight."
Actually, a gun's only purpose is to kill things. This is why it is such a big responsability to carry one. Sadly, most people treat them like they are "big boy toys" and do not respect their true nature. I am not saying that guns are bad, but proper respect for and fear of the weapon in your hands should always be at the forefront of your mind. These kids clearly did not have either of those things in mind.
